Our Hands

Last week at work a Chaplin lead a ceremony to bless all of the CNA's hands:

Blessed be the work of your hands.

Blessed be the hands that have touched life.

Blessed be the hands that have held pain.

Blessed be the hands that have reached out and been received.

Blessed be the hands that hold the promise of the future.

Blessed be the work of your hands. 

While it was very nice to be a part of the ceremony, I did however have a nagging "one dimensional" feeling during the blessing.  This blessing should not be "all about us", it's about the bigger picture: The hands with humility, patience, and ethics.  Or to sum it up better:

The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.

~ Galatians 5:22

A lot of a Certified Nursing Assistant's job is entwined in the practice of these nine fruits.  No person can become proficient in these acts without God and the Holy Spirit's provision.  God even works with people who are unaware of His presence.  Having human desires to serve one another is bound by a thread that connects us with the Creator.  God so loved the world that he sent his only Son to teach us. Jesus sacrificed himself to save us all from our sin which eternally condemns us.  Only by faith in Jesus can we fully comprehend the gifts God has created each of us with.  We praise God for these gifts, and use them to serve others.

God blesses the work of our hands to bless others with our time and service.
